Moz Meets the FBI

http://contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/morrissey%20quizzed%20by%20fbi_23_02_2006

Wow, you'd think the US & UK governments had enough on their plate without worrying about middle-age pop stars, but then again, I think my man Moz likes to exaggerate. His new album will be out on April 4, and the publicity can't hurt. Morrissey, please don't change a hair on your head.

Brawlimer Breaks Carter

I'm late. I'm sorry. I was out skiing Wednesday. I sez to myself, "if those them there people on the talkie picture box can win alls them shiny metals, then I's can do it too."

All spews that's spit to sprint:

  • Massive Attack sample Radiohead's 'The Bends' on their new single 'False Flags'. They've already sampled the Cure a couple of albums ago. They have good taste.
  • American and Canadian males are bad at ice hockey.
  • The Scots are even bad at games they invent like curling and golf.

Neato gadgit of the week:

It doesn't actually hold any pez though.

Open letter to Carter Unstoppable S€x Machine http://www.carterusm.co.uk/:

Jim Bob and Fruit Bat,
How I miss you so. I'm sorry that you decided to break up. I remember seeing you perform live in the cramped attic club called Fletchers in Baltimore while Gene (the person, not the band) was passed out in the backseat of somebody's car outside. He entered the club, but asked for his money back before the opening band. (They gave it to him.) It wasn't until years later that I learned that you decided to break up that day in Baltimore over a cup of coffee.* Whatever Baltimore did to convince you to make that kind of rash decision, I'm sure the city could change. Was the coffee bitter? Was it Gene's fault? If so, I'm sure he is deeply sorry. Just let me know how Baltimore and I can make it better. Please. The world needs your sharp wit and biting sarcasm more now than ever. Goodbye Rubie Tuesday. Go home you stinking cow. We've baked a cake and your friends are waiting. Elvis Lives (& carterbreakamerica) or is it Jim Morrison & Batman Die (& baltimorebreakcarter)? Good night Jim Bob.
Love in a world without carter,

Hit 'em where it hurts: Silver & Gold

The winter Olympics are in full swing, and boy, do those metals look dumb. They are giant washers. Are the men's figure skater's costumes uglier? Discuss. If I were an athlete, I wouldn't even try to win one.

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll
http://trances.free.fr/Mylo/mylo%20-%20destroy%20rock%20&%20roll.mp3
Where did he get that sample? My guess is from "Donahue," the original talk show. Anyhow, it looks like rock & roll is destroying Mylo. He had to cancel his latest tour due to hearing loss. He says that is was caused by a virus. I say it's a virus called rock and/or roll.

The Raconteurs

Who? A four piece band including Bernard Benson http://www.brendanbenson.com/ and a certain Jack White. Look here for empthrees: http://indoorfireworks.blogspot.com/

Goats, Gorillas, Flamingos, Fish, Cats, Doves, Deer, Eagles, Wolves, Octopus, Coyotes, Penguins

Festeevol Time!
The only reason to ever go to Tennessee and the only reason to go to a Manchester not in England or Vermont collide on the 16th of June and lasts for three days. It's the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival,
http://www.bonnaroo.com/. In the past Manchester, TN's music festival has been leaning toward the Jam-type bands. This year they've decided to do something else, something better. Phil Lesh formerly of the Grateful Dead, Rusted Root, Mike Gordan formerly of Phish, and Blues Traveler will be there, but so will Beck, Elvis Costello, Bright Eyes, Death Cab For Cutie, and Radiohead. Oh, and that Brazillian dude in "Steve Zizou's The Life Aquatic" that was playing David Bowie songs in Portuguese will be there. He has a name. It's Seu Jorge. Good for him. Everybody's favorite hasidic reggae star Matisyahu will be there. Oh, and Bonnie Raitt too. Huh? I forgot. It's in Tennessee, close to Nashville. I'd buy tickets, but then the concert would get cancelled. Plus, it is in Tennessee. Why can't they do something like this in the middle of Pennsylvania? It would be close enough to Philly, Pitt, Brawlimer, DC, Clever-land, and Zoo York that people wouldn't have to fly to get there. People don't think. Maybe I'll start a festival. Danny and Gary, don't your parents want to make some extra money and rent out their homes? Tickets on sale Saturday, the 11th at 10 AM EST, for Bonnaroo, not the imaginary PA show.
Bonnaroo artists:
Radiohead, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Phil Lesh & Friends, Beck, Elvis Costello & the Imposters, Bonnie Raitt, Death Cab for Cutie, moe., Bright Eyes, The Neville Brothers, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Buddy Guy, Damian Marley, Ben Folds, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Dr. John, Matisyahu, G. Love & Special Sauce, My Morning Jacket, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Steel Pulse, Mike Gordon & Ramble Dove, Cat Power, Medeski Martin & Wood, Nickel Creek, Gomez, Atmosphere, Steve Earle, Blues Traveler, Amadou & Mariam, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, Dresden Dolls, Son Volt, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Jerry Douglas, Soulive, Rusted Root, Devendra Banhart Band, Donavon Frankenreiter, Mike Doughty, Sasha, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, The Magic Numbers, Bill Frisell, Seu Jorge, Bettye LaVette, Dungen, Shooter Jennings, Rebirth Brass Band, Robinella, Andrew Bird, Steel Train, Jackie Greene, Devotchka, The Wood Brothers, dios (malos), Toubab Krewe, The Motet, Marah, I-Nine, Balkan Beat Box, & The Cat Empire
I count 21 bands that I've never even heard of, but what I don't know could fill a warehouse. Yay!

Operation Slap Shot
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=2322762
Former hockey player, current hockey asst. coach to Gretzky's Coyotes, and eternal hockey jerk Rick Tockett is in trouble for book-keeping and money laundering. New Jersey cops entitled the sting "Operation Slap Shot." Supposedly none of the bets were on hockey so that isn't really that big of a deal, but then again Pete Rose "never bet on baseball." Money laundering is always a big deal. Just ask the IRS. Oh, and Janet Jones, Wayne Gretzky's wife and lead actress in the movie "the Flamingo Kid," may be involved. What I remember most about Rick Tockett's playing days was going from the Philly Flyers where he played most of his career to the Pittsburgh Penguins and winning the Stanley Cup there. After the final game during an interview a reporter asked him what it was like to win the championship. Tockett said it was great playing for the best team in Pennsylvania. When the reporter reminded him that the Pens were the greatest team in the league since they had just won the Stanley Cup, Rick repeated himself. "Greatest team in Pennsylvania." Nice. Now the Steelers are the greatest team in Pennsylvania.

God Vs. Godlike Vs. British Air

Mathematical proof that there is no god
or at least, proof that the devil controls disney and therefore western civilization:
http://disney.go.com/disneyrecords/Song-Albums/devo20/

More Placebo:
On Mar 13, the special edition cd/dvd of Placebo's 'Meds' will feature the Canal + performance with The Cure. I bet this version doesn't get released in this dumb country though.

Other key release dates AKA New Mvsic Tvesday Preview:
Mar 21 - Massive Attack - Collected (greatest hits w/ a bonus disc of stuff)
Apr 4 - Morrissey - Ringerleader of the Tormentors
Apr 4 - The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics
Apr 24 - The Streets - The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living
One of these bands is not like the others. Come on. Can you tell which one before my song is done? And now my song is done. I'll give you a hint. All of the above bands are from the UK except one, and they are from Oklahoma City.

Good "He Said / She Said" Duets:
Human League - Don't You Want Me Baby?
Jesus & Mary Chain w/ Hope Sandoval (of Mazzy Star) - Sometimes Always
The Postal Service feat. Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiely) - Nothing Better
Can you think of any others? Remember that they have to be good though.

Like Caligula, he's a God now.
NME, the so-called know all and end all on UK music, has declared Ian Brown the latest "Godlike Genius" and the Stone Roses self-titled album as the greatest British album of all-time. Usually I agree with a lot of what they write, but they are way off base here. I like the Roses as much as the next guy, but I seriously doubt that "the Monkey King" can be called a genius. For one, geniuses are allowed to fly British Airways, and Ian has been banned. I believe that "The Stones Roses" was amazing album, but I can think of lots of better British albums than that. Does anybody remember a little band called the Beatles? How about The Smiths, Radiohead, or The Cure? Did they forget that The Clash or the Sex Pistols were British? Even Blur and Carter The Unstoppable Sex have multiple albums better than that.

TV on DVD:
"Gimme A Break" & "Charles In Charge" Yep! Get some Nell Carter & Scott Baio action on your tube for Valentine's Day.

Download on the DL
http://www.thedownloader.co.uk/free.php?id=1717
Bloc Party - Like Eating Glass (Black Strobe Remix)
It's long, and therefore my attention deprived mind thinks that the original was better, and that's probably why it wasn't on the remix album. But this has advantages that those versions don't; this is free and legal.
